High-accuracy SCARA robots at Emballage

TM Robotics' TH-350 offers the speed and accuracy required by the packaging industry

TM Robotics, Toshiba Machine's industrial robotics partner, will be showing its TH-350 SCARA robot, and TS1000 robot controller at Emballage. There will also be a Shibaura two axis Cartesian robot on display. These products can be found on the ADMV stand 5AK70 in hall 5 between November 18 and 22.

ADMV, TM Robotics' French distributor, is a specialist automation and robotics integrator with great knowledge of Assembly, Feeding and Palletising systems. ADMV have particular expertise in the Cosmetics, Health and Beauty, Automotive Component and Electro-Mechanical sectors.

"Worldwide manufacturing is in the trough of the biggest slump for 20 years. The packaging sector is beginning to show signs that it is bucking that trend," said Nigel Smith, managing director of TM Robotics. "However, if it is to truly ride out the recession, it must begin to embrace new technologies. Manual lines have to embrace robotics. Lines using multiple axis robots must address the cost savings that can be found by adopting SCARA or Cartesian systems."

The fast cycle times delivered by SCARA technology are ideally suited to the packaging sector. Benefits include conveyor synchronisation capacity and a multi-tasking ability, to facilitate smooth connectivity to vision systems. The TH-350 provides high accuracy and repeatability, with quick cycle times and fast motion. It features absolute encoders as standard, dispensing with the need for a home-return function. Handling payloads of up to 3kg, with repeatability of +/-0.01mm, the TH-350 has an arm length of 350mm. It includes a built-in PLC to control I/O equipment, regardless of robot operation and program.

Ideal for use with the SCARA robot, the TS1000 provides enhanced monitoring and complete system control of the robotic cell. It also features a PLC to simplify data transfer and increase its speed.

The Shibaura two-axis Cartesian robot uses a modular building-block design, allowing single or multiple axis configuration to be built from the same standard components. This system allows for over 500 configurations whilst the compact design minimises space requirements.
